BABES Promise
Our philosophy focuses on a deep desire to improve mainstream birth culture and help women build sustainable birth businesses. We believe those on the ground floor in the birth community are the driving force behind change. We believe in education and training that emphasizes self-worth, better business practices, and big picture thinking.
Our commitment to our students includes assisted learning by making our programs accessible to as many as we can and continually improving our curriculum to meet the ever growing and expanding needs of maternity care. We are committed to promoting the benefits of front line birth professionals in our communities as doulas, birth assistants, educators, breastfeeding counselors, and midwives. We collaborate with other organizations whose mission it is to improve maternity care in the United States and push for getting more birth professionals to those who need them most. We have a giving back fund to offer scholarships for education and training. |

A Note from our founder
Hi, I'm Julie Banas,
Since 2013, BABES has brought together birth-preneurs who help each other succeed through education, training, and networking. We help you recognize your value, and learn skills to help increase your income, freedom and impact from your birth business.
The birth community has been a huge part of my journey. While I first looked at being a birth professional as a job opportunity I quickly realized I had such a bigger mission on my mind.

The birth community has been a huge part of my journey. While I first looked at being a birth professional as a job opportunity I quickly realized I had such a bigger mission on my mind.
I moved from Alaska in 2015 leaving behind all the local connections I had built with the birth community. When we looked into the birth community of the Chicagoland area it was clear a new passion was needed to light a fire for the birth community.
When I first started as a birth professional I had the mentality; the more services I could offer the more successful I would be. I spent hundreds of dollars paying for trainings and events that may have taught me additional birth skills, but lacked in the know how of how to run a small business. The experience was overwhelming. I tried to juggle too many hats without the know how of actually running a business.
I was not alone in this process. So many of my fellow birth professionals were struggling in their birth businesses.
I knew if I wanted something to change I needed to do it myself. Thus, BABES was born.
Our first meet ups were over wine and snacks in my photo studio. Since then, BABES has grown into so much more. Through our efforts, women involved with BABES as members or those who have taken our trainings have drove further in their desires to be a birth professional with sustainable birth businesses.

BABES is paving the way to change maternity care with a vision of integrated birth professionals who work in collaboration to improve birth culture. We believe birth professionals can have sustainable birth businesses with less stress, more freedom, and a bigger impact.
