the homebirth differenceWhile many aspects of birth are similar regardless of location, homebirth differs at its core from hospital birth. There are many differences in how a doula will interact with the birth team and what their duties will be. The home birth doula certification process teaches trained doulas what their role will be in a home birth setting. The program includes:
who is this program for?Our homebirth doula program is intended to be a continuing education for someone who has already had a basic doula education. If you are new to doula work we have a full doula course that includes homebirth doula to give you a solid foundation of doula education. This program does not prepare you to attend homebirths without prior doula training.

How to Become a HomeBirth Certified Doula
The first step to becoming home birth doula certified is to attend one of our in person or virtual workshops. The next steps in the certification are as follows:
Once all certification requirement are submitted your certification will be sent to you via a digital copy or paper copy on request.
- Read at least 3 books from the reading list
- Attend at least 2 homebirths
- Write an essay about the similarities and differences in home birth vs. hospital birth
- Obtain NRP & BLS certifications (neonatal resuscitation and provider CPR)
- Complete an short exam
